OUR STORY Hard working family values were the base of Scott Oil from day one. Delivering a great product at a fair value and a do what ever it takes to keep the customer's satisfied attitude fueled the small start up company right from the start. Living and working in the same community is a source of pride for the Scott family. The company grew one household at a time and relationships began that still continue today. Ed Scott Sr. was dedicated to partnering with customers, not just delivering fuel. Historically, community service and giving back has been a part of the Scott Oil Co. mindset. The company was built over the years strictly by word of mouth advertising and through community involvement by Ed and Marian Scott. Working as a team in the business for 40 years, they also worked as a team to divide up their various volunteer efforts. Ed Scott Sr. was deeply involved with Lions Clubs International on both a local and district level. This included the many years he served as eye research fund chairman for District 33-N in which he annually raised approximately $250,000 for eye research. Additionally, he maintained long-term membership and board affiliation with the Better Home Heat Council of Massachusetts, New England Fuel Institute and National Oil Jobbers Council. Locally, he maintained an active role in the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce being named the Manchester Small Business Person of the Year, served on the Board of Directors and served as president of the organization as well. Marian also did her share of community work as well. She was an active member of the Manchester Booster's Club and served as its president, was a member of the Women's Club and was a longtime member and treasurer of the Manchester Historical Society. |
