Your home heating system is at the heart of your family's comfort and well being. We want to ensure that you are getting your money's worth from every gallon of oil you purchase. Equipment that is well maintained provides trouble-free performance.

Our maintenance philosophy is based on preventing problems rather than fixing them. However, we are experts at both. The annual tune-up is the foundation of our preventive maintenance program. Often when we perform an annual tune-up for a new customer they are amazed at how thorough we are. Well that's usually because the last company didn't do as complete a job.
Annual Tune-Up
Our technicians conduct an in-depth system survey to accurately determine preventative maintenance needs. They clean, tune and repair whatever is required to optimize your systems efficiency. In this way, you burn fewer gallons and save money. In addition, Scott Oil has one of the largest and most extensive inventories of parts and equipment to expedite any necessary repairs 24 X 7.

A complete system tune-up and cleaning will include the following:
  • Visually inspect oil-fired equipment for leaks and defects
  • Inspect all visible oil lines and oil tank
  • Remove firing assembly - adjust electrodes as needed
  • Replace nozzle
  • Clean combustion head and air tube assembly
  • Inspect combustion chamber
  • Replace oil filter cartridge
  • Clean or replace fuel pump strainer, as necessary
  • Clean and align fan and coupling
  • Adjust pump pressure to specifications
  • Adjust oil burner to fire at maximum efficiency
  • Lubricate and inspect all motors and bearings
  • Clean and test primary safety control
  • Brush and vacuum all heating surfaces
  • Brush and vacuum smoke pipe
  • Other procedures as required for your particular system
Efficiency Test
Your service technician will perform a series of tests in order to determine the actual operating efficiency of your oil burner. Adjustments will be made to ensure maximum efficiency. The procedure includes measuring stack temperature, CO2 and draft. A report of these tests and the resulting efficiency rating will be attached to the heating system.
Hourly Service
All Scott Oil customers receive our exceptional service. Most of our customers pay for their annual tune-up and emergency service as needed on a time and materials basis. Customers who choose this option receive our 24-hour per day 7 day a week prompt and courteous service.

Tank Protection Plan
Scott Oil does everything possible to extend the life of your oil storage tank by blending Ultraguard fuel additive into every gallon of oil we deliver to your home. However, a very small percentage of tanks develop a leak over the course of the year. Our Tank Protection Plan takes the worry out of the cost of a tank replacement.

For a small annual fee we will replace your tank if a leak occurs. The Tank Protection Plan includes pumping the oil from the old tank, disconnecting the piping, removing and properly disposing of the old tank according to Massachusetts State Fire Marshall regulations, installing a new tank and pumping the good oil back into the tank.
